After NatAcLang2020 had been postponed, 2021 offered a new chance, and we took the opportunity to resubmit 2 of our original submissions where we introduced the BWRITE project to the Estonian audience of Academic Languages. The first, ACADEMIC WRITING IN THE BALTIC STATES: INTRODUCING THE BWRITE PROJECT, was presented by Djuddah, who presented the general background of the project, and why it’s such an important topic to pursue in the context of the baltic languages. The tone of the presentation was generally optimistic. Rather than painting a picture of the big bad T-Rex of English consuming all the smaller languages, with our project, we focus on the unique aspects of other languages, in our case, Estonian, Latvian and Lithuanian.

The second submission, ACADEMIC TEXTS WRITTEN IN ESTONIAN, LATVIAN AND LITHUANIAN: A QUANTITATIVE OVERVIEW, turned into a poster presentation of our initial database. The type of data, the distribution of the data across our languages, and the disciplinary differences.
